ABITARE A ROMA IN PERIFERIA. Fotografie di Rodrigo Pais nella seconda metà del ‘900 (LIVING IN ROME, IN THE OUTSKIRTS). Photographs taken by Rodrigo Pais during the second half of the 20th century

November 22nd, 2016

The pictures taken by Rodrigo Pais restore the sense of profound identity of the city of Rome and its suburbs with the direct and pragmatic style typical of this photo-reporter. In doing so, he maintained the same intensity found in the images captured by great photographers such as: William Klein for his project dedicated to the streets of his hometown entitled “New York 1954-1955”, Bruce Davidson in his “East 100th Street” (a series done from 1966 to1968 that narrates the conditions of a tenement in East Harlem known for its state of deterioration) , Garry Winogrand and his street photography between New York and Los Angeles, Eugène Atget’s portraits of deserted streets and the humanity of Robert Doisneau’s photos of Paris and the Parisian suburbs as well as Vivian Mayer’s shots of a hectic Chicago. Pais doesn’t only bear witness to a historical period in Rome from the viewpoint of its urban development or historical-political context; however, he explores the city’s most subtle textures as well.

FORO DI AUGUSTO. 2000 ANNI DOPO DI PIERO ANGELA E PACO LANCIANO (“FORUM OF AUGUSTUS. 2000 YEARS LATER”, BY PIERO ANGELA AND PACO LANCIANO)

August 20th, 2015

Spectators will be accompanied by the voice of Piero Angela and magnificent footage and reconstructions that reveal places as they appeared during the time of Augustus: an exciting portrayal that is also historically and scientifically accurate. While presenting a variety of aspects of that unique phenomenon known universally as the Roman world, the story remains focused upon the Forum of Augustus, using its ruins in a creative manner in an attempt to let the stones speak for themselves as much as possible. Aside from the faithful reconstruction of the area and ...

TIEPOLO: I COLORI DEL DISEGNO – THE COLOURS OF DRAWING

October 7th, 2014

For the very first time in Rome, the magnificent halls of the Capitolini Museum are hosting an exhibit that thoroughly illustrates the inventive and productive dynamics of Giambattista Tiepolo, one of the greatest engravers and painters of 18th century Venice. An impressive number of pages on loan from museums, foundations and private collections make up the four sections of an exhibition which gathers drawings and water colours according to key themes and then divides them by their range of technical methods: from the project or ‘thoughts’ to ‘memories’ and ‘amusements’. There ...
