HENRI CARTIER BRESSON

September 30th, 2014

HENRI-CARTIER-BRESSON_ENG

This large exhibit is presented by Rome’s Ara Pacis Museum exactly ten years after the death of Henri Cartier-Bresson: the photographer who worked alongside the Surrealist movement of the 1930s, the militant documentary filmmaker during the Spanish Civil War and World War II, the reporter during the 1950s and 1960s and lastly, the intimist artist from the 1970s on. The exhibition, curated by Clément Chéroux currently on display at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, covers the entire professional career of the great photographer and is the result of many years of research carried out by the curator as he studied the artist’s archives. Over 500 photographs, drawings, paintings, films and documents will be on display, bringing together the most important icons as well as the lesser-known images of this great master.

LE CHIAVI DI ROMA. LA CITTA’ DI AUGUSTO (KEYS TO ROME. THE CITY OF AUGUSTUS)

September 23rd, 2014

Visitors of this wonderful exhibition will trace the history of Rome, thanks to two protagonists – an old merchant and his nephew – who must find the objects belonging to their family and reveal their secrets, using the keys to Rome on the one day in which Janus allows the doors of time to be opened. There is a map of the city in the Museum’s Great Hall Mercati di Traiano that will make visitors feel as if they were “walking” through the Rome of 2,000 years ago. A touring international ...

ESCHER

September 16th, 2014

More than 150 works are on display including some of his most famous masterpieces such as the “Hand with Reflecting Sphere” (M.C. Escher Foundation), “Day and Night” (Giudiceandrea Collection), “Another World II” (Giudiceandrea Collection) and “House of Stairs” (relativity) (Giudiceandrea Collection). A great anthological exhibition is being inaugurated at Rome’s Chiostro del Bramante that is entirely dedicated to the Dutch artist, engraver and printmaker who contextualized the artistic idiom and told of how seemingly irreconcilable cultural universes come together. Thanks to his art and creative drive, these opposites harmonise in a ...

September 9th, 2014

After its stops in Berlin and Amsterdam, Flavio de Marco’s most recent project “Stella” is now on display at Rome’s G.N.A.M.
