ROBERT CAPA IN ITALIA 1943 – 1944

October 29th, 2013

ROBERT-CAPA-IN-ITALIA-1943_ENG

The Museo di Roma has brought this very important Robert Capa exhibition into being. The renowned Hungarian photographer is considered by some as the father of photojournalism. Although never a soldier himself, Capa lived most of his life on battlefields capturing five of the world’s major conflicts: the Spanish Civil War, the Sino-Japanese War, World War II, the 1948 Arab-Israeli War and the First Indochina War. New exhibit space dedicated specifically to temporary art shows will be used for the occasion. The 78 photographs on display testify to the way Capa’s lens illustrates the wars which common people were subjected to. Small towns from all over the world with the tragic kinship of having been reduced to rubble; soldiers and civilians alike were victims of the same carnage.

Masterpieces from the Museum of Saint Januarius is an exhibit that displays a collection of some of the most magnificent donations to the Saint over the past seven centuries. These creations are of the greatest artistic value: they were made with an enormous amount of precious gems by some of history’s most illustrious goldsmiths such as the 17th century master Michele Dato, creator ...

CEZANNE E GLI ARTISTI ITALIANI DEL XX SECOLO

October 15th, 2013

This extraordinary exhibit at Rome’s Complesso del Vittoriano presents a direct comparison between the works of Cézanne and those of some of the most important Italian artists of the 20th century. Works on display include those by Umberto Boccioni - who saw the message of the French artist as an essential catalyst towards an urgent need for change - and Giorgio Morandi, whose similarities with Cézanne include his choice to themes. Also on exhibit are works by post-war artists  such as Afro, Scialoja, Corpora, Morlotti and Pirandello, all of whom were ...

The exhibition that will be hosted at Rome’s Scuderie del Quirinale traces the life and career of Augustus through a selection of the most precious works of art which include statues, portraits, household items in bronze, silver and glass as well as jewels in gold and precious stones.
