Until 7 January 2011, the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art has put together a very special exhibit for the occasion of the presentation of Lucio Fontana’s ceiling work “Ambiente spaziale con tagli”, created in 1960 for the home of engineer Antonio Melandri.
A tour featuring works by such talents as Balla, Schwitters, Giacometti, Moore, Boccioni, Martini all of whom were inspired by Fontana’s cultural moment in time, including marble sculptures by Adolf Wildt.
Alexander Calder’s “Mobile” is displayed by Fontana’s ceiling. This work already set Mondrian’s grids into motion back in the 1930’s.
Other artists from this movement are: Castellani, Manzoni, Christo, Klein, Turcato, Burri, Tano Festa, Pascali, Accardi, Lo Savio and Mochetti.
