CORREGGIO E PARMIGIANINO. ARTE A PARMA NEL CINQUECENTO (ART IN PARMA DURING THE 16th CENTURY)

March 29th, 2016

CORREGGIO-E-PARMIGIANINO.-ARTE-A-PARMA-NEL-CINQUECENTO_ENG

The exhibit introduces visitors at Rome’s Scuderie del Quirinale to a singular period in the history of art from the Parma School during the first half of the 16th century, demonstrating how magnificent Renaissance art was not limited to the confines of the capital cities of Florence, Venice and Rome. This golden age was further heightened by two undisputed masters, Correggio (1489-1534) and Parmigianino (1503-1540). A selection of Correggio’s masterpieces on religious themes displays his intense emotional perception and the range of sentiments he was able to convey through his work. Also on exhibit are Correggio’s works of a mythological subject matter that had an enormous influence on painters of later generations. The works on exhibit by Parmigianino, whose career took him to Rome and Bologna, not only explore his religious and mythological output but also focus on the spectacular results of his efforts in portrait painting.

March 23rd, 2016

The Way of the Cross. The Passion of Christ is a cycle of works created by Fernando Botero between 2010 and 2011. The cycle is made up of 27 oil paintings and 34 works on paper. It has been on display in many countries of North and South America as well as in Europe. BIZHAN BASSIRI – SPECCHIO SOLARE–NOOR (SUN MIRROR)

March 15th, 2016

The Specchio Solare sculpture is back in Italy after having been the protagonist of Bassiri’s solo exhibit held at Tehran’s AUN Gallery last September. Now on display at Rome’s Carlo Bilotti Museum, the work comes into contact with the city in full bloom to create a bond of continuity between the two capital cities and cultures. Bassiri is an exponent of both since he was born in Tehran and moved to Rome at the age of 20. The term Noor is an obvious reference to the natural light linking Bizhan Bassiri’s Specchio ...

APPUNTI DI UNA GENERAZIONE #2 – FEDERICO PIETRELLA E DONATELLA SPAZIANI

March 8th, 2016

Pietrella is famous for his singular painting technique which employs a date stamp instead of the traditional paintbrush. His images result from overlapping the stamped print onto the canvas, indicating the date in which the artist created his work. Each painting holds the memory of the time spent to create the work and registered by Pietrella’s single gestures. In this way, his art is transformed into a progressive accumulation of marks – each stamp remains visible and indelible, preventing the artist from going back over the work and rethinking the image. ...

ESPOSIZIONE DI UN NUOVO FRAMMENTO, APPARTENENTE ALLA LASTRA 31, DELLA FORMA URBIS (A ‘NEW’ FRAGMENT OF FORMA URBIS ROMAE A PORTION OF SLAB 31ON DISPLAY)

March 1st, 2016

A new and precious piece can now be introduced into the vast and intricate mosaic that tells the story of Ancient Rome: a fragment of Forma Urbis Romae, the ancient plan of the city of Rome commissioned by Emperor Septimus Severus and originally engraved on marble slabs (dated to 203-211 A.D.). It will be on exhibit until 17 March 2016. The new fragment was found during recent works in Palazzo Maffei Marescotti, a building belonging to the Vatican located on Via della Pigna. This “Vatican” piece makes it possible to have a ...
