Over eighty works of art including engravings and water paintings on loan from the Museo di Roma will be on exhibit at Palazzo Braschi. The exhibit tells the stories of the young French artists who gravitated around the prestigious Académie de France built upon request of King Louis XVI. According to the common practice in use during the 19th century, Rome was a crucial stop in the intellectual formation of any young European of a good family. All works on display are dedicated to Rome and demonstrate the different kinds of relationships that each of these artists had with the Eternal City. These are works intended for the sophisticated public of travellers from abroad who wanted to take a souvenir of their trip to Rome home with them.
