ESCHER
More than 150 works are on display including some of his most famous masterpieces such as the “Hand with Reflecting Sphere” (M.C. Escher Foundation), “Day and Night” (Giudiceandrea Collection), “Another World II” (Giudiceandrea Collection) and “House of Stairs” (relativity) (Giudiceandrea Collection). A great anthological exhibition is being inaugurated at Rome’s Chiostro del Bramante that is entirely dedicated to the Dutch artist, engraver and printmaker who contextualized the artistic idiom and told of how seemingly irreconcilable cultural universes come together. Thanks to his art and creative drive, these opposites harmonise in a visual dimension that is decidedly unique. The exhibit’s layout intends to follow Escher’s gaze literally. His work was the result of a direct and prompt observation of nature, influenced by the spell that the Italian landscape cast upon him.
