ROBERT CAPA IN ITALIA 1943 – 1944
The Museo di Roma has brought this very important Robert Capa exhibition into being. The renowned Hungarian photographer is considered by some as the father of photojournalism. Although never a soldier himself, Capa lived most of his life on battlefields capturing five of the world’s major conflicts: the Spanish Civil War, the Sino-Japanese War, World War II, the 1948 Arab-Israeli War and the First Indochina War. New exhibit space dedicated specifically to temporary art shows will be used for the occasion. The 78 photographs on display testify to the way Capa’s lens illustrates the wars which common people were subjected to. Small towns from all over the world with the tragic kinship of having been reduced to rubble; soldiers and civilians alike were victims of the same carnage.
