DUCHAMP – RE-MADE IN ITALY
The G.N.A.M. National Gallery of Modern Art is presenting an exhibit that focuses upon important works by Marcel Duchamp, many of which provoked a scandal, that are a part of Arturo Schwarz’s legacy. The exhibit is curated by Stefano Cecchetto, Giovanna Coltelli and Marcella Cossu with outfitting designed by Alessandro Maria Liguori. The show is developed through seven halls displaying the work of Marcel Duchamp in connection with the encounters he made and exhibits which took place during the 1960s in Italy. His renowned Readymades are at the core of the exhibition. These replicas were created by Duchamp in accord with Arturo Schwarz in 1964 – 1965 and donated to Rome’s National Gallery of Modern Art in 1998. Lastly, a large portion of the art show is dedicated to the influence Duchamp had on the art scene in Italy and the encounters between him and fellow artists during his many visits.
