D’APRÈS RODIN. SCULTURA ITALIANA DEL PRIMO NOVECENTO
This exhibition is on display at the National Gallery of Modern Art and is being hosted in conjunction with the “Rodin. Marble, Life” exhibit held at the Terme di Diocleziano seat of the National Museum of Rome. “D’après Rodin. Scultura Italiana del Primo Novecento” (After Rodin. Early 20th Century Italian Sculpture) places particular focus upon the widespread and transversal influence the French artist had on Italian sculpture during the first decades of the 1900s. This exhibition is curated by Stefania Frezzotti. Many pieces on display are by Italian sculptors whose works are also part of the National Gallery of Modern Art’s own collections. One example is Medardo Rosso whose relationship with Rodin was one of admiration but not without moments of conflict. Other works arriving from both public and private collections are by artists who found their inspiration in Rodin’s sculptures and were working actively until the end of the 1930s.
