PICTOR URBIS – ANTONIAZZO ROMANO
The approximately fifty works on display at Rome’s Palazzo Barberini include polyptyches, large altarpieces, small devotional paintings, gold-based panels and a series of individual frescoes along with other works for comparison and documentary evidence. All of this offers visitors a journey into the Renaissance of Antoniazzo Romano and his abundant workshop in the first monographic exhibition dedicated to the Renaissance painter. The event is promoted and presented by the Soprintendenza Council for the Arts and is curated by Anna Cavallaro and Stefano Petrocchi. The exhibit is being hosted in the halls of the Palazzo dedicated specifically to temporary art shows. The wealth of art to be admired was made possible thanks to the generosity of public and private museums. Some of the most prestigious works selected for the exhibit are on loan from important churches in Rome and in the Lazio region.
