LEONARDO DA VINCI. THE SELF-PORTRAIT
The Leonardo da Vinci’s Self-Portrait. is the main piece of an extraordinary exhibition at the Capitoline Museums. What is perhaps the world’s most famous drawing is now the absolute protagonist of an exhibition that brings the masterpiece of the artist’s later years to Rome for the first time. The exhibition is designed in three sections. Viewers are inevitably drawn toward the hypnotic and timeless gaze of Leonardo but before standing face-to-face with this historical portrait, they are given the opportunity to explore the most important events in the life of da Vinci the artist as if they were reading about them in a novel – the controversial and fascinating occurrences that have accompanied this work over the centuries and the sanguine technique used by Leonardo. Thanks to multi-media support systems, the Self-Portrait is also narrated by three highly valued audio-visual documents provided by Rai Teche and the Luce Institute.
