The most expansive solo exhibit to date of Roman artist Gea Casolaro who has been living and working in both Paris and Rome since 2009. The show’s title reveals one of the themes that the artist holds most dear: the importance of the outlook of others for the construction of one’s own creation as applied to both the vision of art and life in general. Casolaro never conceals the involvement of her personal view albeit she considers it as valid as that of anyone else. She never hides behind a camera, though. To the contrary, she accepts her responsibility as an artist. This personal involvement shines throughout her work but it is even more apparent in her On the time line (2011), a self-portrait in which she presents herself with her back to the spectator and in the same position as the figures in René Magritte’s La reproduction interdite (Not to be reproduced) thus becoming a part of the work itself. Each of the works selected for the exhibit places emphasis upon the importance of an exchange of viewpoints between people, stories, times and cultures to enrich our own ability to analyse images, society and reality and in which every fragment and every individual are relevant for their complementarity with the rest of the world.
