TRE CIVETTE SUL COMÒ. CIVETTARTE
An exhibit dedicated to owls (civette) by way of 67 works, almost all of which were created specifically for the occasion, by 67 artists from Italy, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, Greece, Iraq, Ireland, Luxemburg, Holland and Spain. Not only paintings and sculptures are on display. There are also fans, kites, jewels, push scooters, embroidery, auteur books, videos, clothes, hats and puppets on exhibit to present a harmonious and constant exchange with the cheerful decorative elements of the building that hosts the Museo della vetrata Liberty Art Nouveau Glass Window Museum which owes its name to Duilio Cambellotti’s renowned windows dedicated to owls. The artists used many different materials to offer their personal interpretations of owls: glass windows, macramé, mosaics, videos, papier-mâché, cloth, frescoes, bronze, weaving, wood, plaster, multi-material and oil on canvas. Their perspectives are whimsical and witty, enchanted, surreal, evocative and poetic. The final result is that there are about seventy owls living in the rooms of the Casina delle Civette in Rome and its carriage house!
