ARTURO DAZZI 1881/1966 ROME, CARRARA, FORTE DEI MARMI
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the death of the artist Arturo Dazzi, this exhibition seeks to promote the works of one of the most important figures of Italian twentieth-century art. On display is a large amount of material – some 65 works –both from the “Donazione Dazzi” of the Villa Bertelli Foundation and held in public and private collections. The exhibition illustrates the fruitful links the artist established and cultivated during his lifetime with three Italian cities: Carrara, where he was born and trained; Rome, where he obtained popularity and success, and Forte dei Marmi, the retreat of his later years, where this leading light of new Neoclassicism worked on some of his most important monumental works and where he was ultimately to discover a talent for painting. The exhibition is composed of six sections, organised according to chronology and artistic genres, and features paintings, sculptures, drawings, historical photographs and documents, some of them unpublished.
