The exhibit was designed to be a reconnaissance into the heart of Prampolini’s ability to plan and marks the artist’s return to a Roman museum after more than two decades from the large-scale anthological exhibit outfitted at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni (1992). Over 150 documents from Prampolini’s Archive are on display at the MACRO Library, all of which were donated to the City of Rome in 1992 from his heirs and are preserved in the MACRO’s Visual Arts Research and Documentation Centre (CRDAV). The Archive holds a substantial collection of documents related to Prampolini’s many fields of activity: from theatre, set design, theoretical analysis and production of writings and posters to participation in exhibitions and their planning, his efforts as cultural promoter/organizer and his work as art critic and teacher. There are also many letters on exhibit that bear witness to the association that Prampolini had with numerous exponents of Italian and international culture.
