LEONARDO AND MICHELANGELO. Masterpieces of Design and Roman Studies.

This extraordinary exhibit hosted in Rome’s Musei Capitolini displays an in-depth comparison between two of the greatest masters of the Italian Renaissance through 66 masterpiece drawings on loan from Milan’s Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana and from the Casa Buonarroti Foundation in Florence. This event is highly scientific, beginning with the masterpieces of two collections to then consider the Roman production of works by both artists. It also explores their passions and personal interests such as Michelangelo’s habit of going directly to worksites and Leonardo’s attraction for optics.

The Istituto Nazionale per la Grafica opens its season with one of its most anticipated exhibitions: Luca Pignatelli, Icons. The artist from Milan contributes paintings and other elements made of different materials and supports such as old magazines, truck tarps, prayer books and old photographs to create maxi works of art with immense emotional character. The exhibition is accompanied by Hope2, the video by Daniele Pignatelli produced by Max Brun. Works by David Simpson will be on display at this gallery in Rome. The Accademia di Francia is presenting a photographic exhibition dedicated to Éric Poitevin in the evocative Villa Medici. The photos on display were taken in Rome during the artist’s stay in the city in the early 1990’s. Other works are more recent, presented for the first time, and of monumental dimensions. The Ara Pacis museum is dedicating a unique exhibition to legendary actress Audrey Hepburn in honour of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” 50th anniversary.
