Robert Mapplethorpe’s photo exhibition themes
During the exhibition will be displayed forty-five works concerned with some of the main themes of Robert Mapplethorpe: the study of the dead nature, of the landscapes, of the classical sculpture and of the Renaissance composition.
The exhibition about Robert Mapplethorpe has been inspired to the collector practice, a passion shared with his partner Sam Wagstaff, whose collection is a fund of the photography department of Getty Museum in Los Angeles.
The works have been put and selected in order to show the job aspects of the photographer and to make them resonate inside the museum, seen as a space, both physical and conceptual, of the collecting, so as to spark a unique connection among the visitors, the works and the ambients of the Corsini Gallery.
