MAGNUM MANIFESTO: UNA MOSTRA CELEBRA IL SETTANTESIMO ANNIVERSARIO DELLA MAGNUM PHOTOS (AN EXHIBIT TO COMMEMORATE THE 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF MAGNUM PHOTOS)
This exposition began its world tour in New York last June at the International Center for Photography. The purpose of the exhibit is to celebrate the seventieth anniversary of Magnum Photos, the world’s greatest photojournalism agency founded by Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, George Rodger and David Seymour in April 1947. Since the day it opened, Magnum Photos has gained the fame of being a reference point in the documentation and photojournalism industries. From Eve Arnold’s coverage of migrant workers in the USA during the 1950s and Elliot Erwitt’s tender and intimate “family” portraits to Josef Koudelka’s famous photographic study of gypsies and Paul Fusco’s touching 1968 series entitled “Funeral Train” featuring the train that carried RFK to his final resting place at Arlington Cemetery as mournful Americans watched it go by in stunned disbelief.
