EGIZI ETRUSCHI. DA EUGENE BERMAN ALLO SCARABEO DORATO (ETRUSCAN EGYPTIANS FROM EUGENE BERMAN TO THE GOLDEN BEETLE)
The encounter and the exchange between two of the great Mediterranean civilizations is at the heart of a fascinating exhibit entitled Etruscan Egyptians from Eugene Berman to the Golden Beetle which marks the opening of a new exhibit space at Centrale Montemartini for temporary shows. The exhibit offers its visitors an opportunity to compare the two ancient cultures by viewing priceless Egyptian objects dating from the 8th to the 3rd century B.C. that recently came to light during an excavation project in Vulci, an important city in the ancient region of southern Etruria. Alongside the latest discoveries at Vulci, the exhibit features the precious Egyptian relics from the Berman Collection and works on loan from the Egyptian Section of Florence’s National Archaeological Museum. They all illustrate commercial exchanges but the main feature is the cultural exchange between the civilizations which shared the ideals of regality, symbols of power and religious practices.
