The Festival at Rome’s Basilica di Massenzio is a stage upon which the invited authors propose the fruit of their thoughts directly to a vast audience. The Festival di Massenzio is an invitation to share an experience that belongs to the world of writing. It can be listened to, much like a concert, and can be viewed as a theatrical work. The title of this edition of the Festival is a play on words of the Fellini masterpiece “La dolce vita“, to begin reading about that decade with a fresher attitude, even if many years have passed, with the considerations and analyses of philosophers and the imagined re-elaboration of narrators.
Departing from this linear provocation, a series of ten evenings will unwind: a kind of return to the past in order to move ahead better,as in the children’s board game Game of the Goose.
However, this year – alongside the usual contribution of the authors – there will also be interventions by philosophers and an economist. There are many female authors to testify to the fact that the strength and quality of a woman’s viewpoint are essential.
The first evening is dedicated to Ennio Flaiano.
