MODIGLIANI, SOUTINE E GLI ARTISTI MALEDETTI
The long-awaited and magnificent exhibition curated by Marc Restellini has finally arrived in Rome. The rewarding partnership between Fondazione Roma, the Municipality of Milan and the Artemisia Group has been confirmed once again for this special occasion. They have succeeded in bringing the outrageous and fascinating Paris of the early 20th century to the capital city by way of an extraordinary selection of paintings by the so-called “cursed artists”. Portraits created by Modigliani are among the best-known works of the 1900s and this Roman exhibit is presenting a wide selection of them to its guests. Hanging by Modigliani’s masterpieces, we have stories of the subversive Chaïm Soutine, landscapes by Maurice Utrillo, Suzanne Valadon – model and mistress of many artists of her time – and Moïse Kisling. Other works on display are by Derain, Vlamick, Epstein, Fournier and many painters of that Ecole.
