DREAMINGS. AUSTRALIAN ABORIGINAL ART MEETS DE CHIRICO
The exhibition is being hosted at Rome’s Carlo Bilotti Museum in the Villa Borghese, one of the most appropriate areas in the city for displaying contemporary art. The museum is the permanent home of 18 works by Giorgio de Chirico and the art show focuses attention on this novel combination. The exhibit builds a bridge between a concept found in Australian indigenous tradition – dreaming or dreamtime – and de Chirico’s own expressive conceptions. This relationship is particularly highlighted in the section dedicated to the works of Imants Tillers, one of the most representative artists of today’s Aboriginal Art, on display in the project room on the first floor. For the Aborigines, Dreaming is the spiritual time that precedes history and the creation of the human world.
