IL TESORO DI NAPOLI. I Capolavori del Museo di San Gennaro
Masterpieces from the Museum of Saint Januarius is an exhibit that displays a collection of some of the most magnificent donations to the Saint over the past seven centuries. For the first time outside of the city of Naples visitors can admire works of art donated by popes, emperors, European kings and the most devout Neapolitan citizens. These creations are of the greatest artistic value: they were made with an enormous amount of precious gems by some of history’s most illustrious goldsmiths such as the 17th century master Michele Dato, creator of the splendid Necklace of San Januarius, and Matteo Treglia’s Miter with its ornate diamonds, emeralds and rubies; both of these pieces, along with many other masterpieces, will be on display for this extraordinary exhibit in Rome’s Palazzo Sciarra.
