THE AGE OF MODERNITY. Hungarian Painting between 1905 and 1925.
Rome’s National Gallery of Modern Art is presenting The Age of Modernity exhibit in collaboration with the Hungarian National Gallery in Budapest. The objective of the exhibit is to familiarize the Italian public with Hungarian modernism through about one hundred works of art that include paintings, sketches, engravings and sculptures. The exhibition displays the talent of artists who sought contact with the avant-garde, modernity and the influence of foreign art without every distancing themselves from tradition, folklore and local atmospheres. The heart of the exhibit is made up of the Group of Eight who went in the direction of an autonomous artistic programme.
