COMMON PLACES. British landscape artists in Rome between the 18th and 19th centuries
British landscape artists in Rome between the 18th and 19th centuries in the graphic works at the Museo di Roma continues the project begun in 2012 dedicated to French landscape artists. Works by Richard Cooper, Edward Lear, Arthur John Strutt and John Ruskin will be on display. Impressive views of the city and poignant images of the Roman countryside which had captured the imagination of the painters. They had often put themselves through some rather strenuous and even dangerous trips to areas filled with malaria and bandits just so that they could anchor their memories of the charming landscapes in front of them. A presentation which yet again confirms the special place Rome holds in the world of art.
