The exhibit curated by Bruno Corà and dedicated to artist Franco Giuli tells of his research and experimentation with a variety of materials. More specifically, in recent years he has been focusing his work on cardboard packaging boxes. He skilfully cuts and carves, assembling them in ratio with space and surface to create a new three-dimensional abstraction between reality and fantasy. In 1974, Cesare Vivaldi recommended Franco Giuli for the national Bolaffi Award by stating that his candidate was “one of the most interesting young artists on the horizon of the new Italian Abstract Art”. In 1977 Nello Ponente affirmed that Giuli’s painting-sculptures produce an immediate perception that is absolute and free of deception. Approximately 30 of the artist’s works will be on display.
