The “giorni d’oro + notti d’argento” exhibit by Ugo Rondinone is being hosted in two of Rome’s most important institutional areas: MACRO Testaccio – the finest example of industrial archaeology – and Trajan’s Market, the symbolic monument to imperial antiquity. The Swiss artist has designed a single itinerary within the two locations that revolves around two large environmental installations conceived as two cycles, golden days and silver nights, which transform the areas into fantastic settings where spectators can participate in the works as both a visual and conceptual experience. Rondinone is presenting his “notti d’argento” for the first time in Italy at Trajan’s Market. The work is a group of 5 casts of thousand-year-old olive trees that are still standing in Italy’s Apulia and Basilicata regions, displayed here in aluminium and coated in white enamel.
