The largest international exhibit ever organized around tattoos as an original artistic expression in modern times. The exhibition in Rome, with Asia Argento as celebrity spokesperson, is the tattoo’s official welcome to the world of art. Under the artistic direction of Marco Manzo, one of Italy’s best known tattoo artists on an international level, the exhibit is an all-embracing journey through the history and culture of tattoos. It is divided into sections and opens with one dedicated to the history of the tattoo featuring museum artefacts and relics. The other sections hosting photography, paintings and the graphic arts display works by some of the world’s greatest tattoo artists. Amongst the many interesting things to see: a group exhibit dedicated to skulls (a symbol very much in vogue with the younger set); a special area for cartoonists; B-INK with its tattooed 64-letter alphabet; and another area showcasing INKARTA in an original exhibit that presents 35 panels designed to tell of the styles and trends in tattoos from ancient times to present day. VANITAS VANITATUM is the section dedicated to contemporary artists who are not tattoo artists but whose painting and sculptures are linked to the world of Tattoos.
