JEAN-MARC BUSTAMANTE

Jean-Marc Bustamante is presenting a selection of his works in the exhibition halls of the Villa Medici for his very first retrospective show in Italy – also featuring works by Pieter Jansz Saenredam (paintings and drawings) – on loan from some of Europe’s most prestigious museums. Saenredam spent his entire life designing and painting the interiors of churches in Holland and Rome in which the stark bareness of the space is accentuated by stern exercises in perspective and the presence of geometric objects.

RUSSIAN AVANT- GARDE ART

This exhibition features 60 paintings and architectural models of Russian art dating back to the early 20th century. Works on display are on loan from the State Tretyakov Gallery and other Russian Regional Museums. The exhibition documents the birth and development of avant-garde art in Russia from the clear influence of such artists as Cezanne, Gaugin and Picasso (which comprehends Cubist-Futurist French art) to original creations of Suprematist non-objective art and the formal discipline of Constructivism. ANDY WARHOL’S FACTORY

The exhibit will be held in the halls of the Chiostro del Bramante and traces the history of Andy Warhol’s Factory through works, photographs, video clips, films, documents and installations. The show focuses upon the artist’s works during the height of his career in the 1960’s.
