GRAVITY. IMAGINING THE UNIVERSE AFTER EINSTEIN
Albert Einstein published the article in 1917 that brought modern cosmology into being and transformed the models of the cosmos and the universe imagined by scientists and thinkers until then, revolutionizing the concepts of time and space. One hundred years after this publication, MAXXI is dedicating an exhibit to one of the figures who has most influenced contemporary thinking. The project is the result of an innovative collaboration between the MAXXI Museum, the Italian Space Agency and the National Institute of Nuclear Physics in terms of the exhibit’s scientific aspects with Tomás Saraceno supervising its artistic elements. By investigating the connections and profound similarities between art and science, the exhibit narrates the developments of the theory of relativity through a contemporary vision of the universe and the fascinating by-products it is still inspiring in the artistic field.
