The exhibit proposed by Rome’s Villa Medici reunites two stars of the history of visual art: American artist Ellsworth Kelly, one of the most dynamic presences on the international contemporary arts scene since the late 1940’s, and French painter Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, whose works have enhanced both academic art and the most innovative modern art.
L’Accademia di Francia a Roma – Villa Medici will be exhibiting recent works by Kelly that have not yet been displayed, such as Portrait de Jean-Baptiste Desdéban and Blue Curves.
The exposition compares the styles of these two masters, in order to better understand the relationship that distinguishes these two artists. Their works will be subdivided into distinct groups.
